General view of Area 2, with the collapse US 4 in the foreground

Today we finished to spotlight the collapse US 4, made up of big and medium size stones, extended all over Area 2. In particular, we removed the last strips of earth obliterating the stones in the North part of the Area and we cleaned the walls delimitating the collapse in the South and East parts of the Area. In the South-West corner, after the removal of a modern layer of earth functional to level the slope of the hill, we verified the absence  of the collapse in this part, where we spotlighted a layer made up of yellow-brown earth with small stones and bricks.

In Area 1 we restarted the investigation interrupted at the end of the previous digging campaign, by cleaning the mud accumulated in the last days because of the snow: so we pointed out US 30, a layer made up of yellow earth with many traces of burning and coals.

We kept on working on graphical, photographical and tridimensional (through laser-scanning) documentation. Tomorrow we will be removing the collapse US 4 with the help of a mechanical excavator and we will keep on excavating in Area 1 sectors.
