Vista generale di Area 2 al termine della giornata di lavoro

Area 1
We finish to enlighten the collapse US 43 who cover the whole Room 3.

Area 2
We cleaned the rims of the walls discovered in the East and in the South sides of the excavated area.
We also cleaned the doorsstep of the gate in the South-est part of the aream and we identify a really small ambient located between the wall US 10 and the tower basement (US 13) long 1 meter and 1,5 meters wide.

We even clean the rim of the big slope wall discovered in the center of the area.
This wall was made with well worked big and medium stones and was probably released by some specialised masons.

This huge slope wall was one of remains of the first  phase of the castle (released in the  XII century) he same phase that include also the tower discovered last year.

Those are the most ancient remains of the castle, later the slope wall was trimmed and the rim was covered with mortar and sand tho have a level where was raised a latter wall made with a less accurate technique.

All those operations was realized to raise the "Cassero Senese" (remembered in the written sources from 1262), in the same period was realized the entrance, instead the slope wall was covered with a layer of a yellow sand used like a ground floor inside the castle,  at the same level of the doorstep.
