Area 1: il piccolo edificio quadrato (torre ?)

We continued our investigation with the cleaning of the building discovered in the past days in the Square 1. It was clarified the position of the wall US 4 and the various other sections of visible nearby. These are three different structures that develop over a length of about 17 m. and dividing the yard into two separate squares (Square 1 in the north-east and Square 2 in the south-west). The first structure is the same wall US 4, which we consider as part of a defensive wall, the second wall is a part of a small square building, the third and last is another part of a city wall (Wall US 9). We  faced a defensive structure visible only on one side but that probably surrounds the entire upper part of the small hill.

The small square building with sides of 4.50 m. in length, has not completely made clear, but we hope that its walls are stored on multiple rows in height. As can be seen by now, is made of bricks, well squared medium / large size, bond together by a mortar-type sandy in yellow color similar to those found in other walls identified. That was a small building that for now we can interpret as the remains of a small tower.

In the north-east part of the Square 1, we also continued the identification of the wall US 5 that seems to belong with the US 3 wall, to a single building. It should be noted that the first cleaning of these walls made it possible to see the inner part of the traces of plaster. It is not possible to provide an interpretation for now but based on this clue we can suppose the presence of a tank.

Throughout the day was made the design of the hill through the use of a theodolite to create a layout of the area investigated by GIS platform.
